This notice explains how I handle your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Who I am

I am Jarrod Hinde. I run Overscroll as a sole proprietor. I am responsible for the personal information you send through this site. I am also Overscroll's Information Officer.

What I collect

When you send an enquiry, I collect:

  • your name and email address
  • your phone number and business name, if you add them
  • your message
  • the package, budget and estimate you choose, if any

When you send an enquiry, the site checks a scrambled code made from your internet (IP) address to stop spam and repeated sending. The code is not stored.

This site sets no cookies and does not track you. It remembers 2 things in this tab only: where you scrolled, so the back button returns you to the same spot, and what you have typed into the enquiry form but not sent, so it is not lost if you leave the page. Both stay in your browser and are cleared when you close the tab. The form text is also cleared once you send it.

Why I collect it

I use your details only to reply to your enquiry and, if you ask, to prepare a quote. I do not add you to a mailing list. I do not sell or share your details for marketing.

You choose what to send

Sending an enquiry is voluntary. I need your name, email address and message to reply. The other fields are optional.

Who else handles it

I use a few services to run this site. They handle your details for me:

  • Cloudflare hosts the site.
  • Lovable Cloud stores enquiries in a database in Canada, run on Supabase.
  • Resend emails me a copy of each enquiry. It sends from the European Union and keeps its records in the United States.
  • Proton hosts my inbox in Switzerland.

Information sent outside South Africa

Because of the services above, your details are stored or pass through Canada, the European Union, the United States, Switzerland and Cloudflare's global network. Each of these places has its own data protection law. Your details go to these services only so I can receive and answer your enquiry and, if you ask, prepare a quote.

How long I keep it

I keep enquiries for 12 months after we last spoke. If we work together, I keep what I need for the project and my records for as long as the law requires. Then I delete it.

How I protect it

Enquiries go to a database that the public site cannot read. Only the server can add to it, and only I have access to view it.

Your rights

You can ask me:

  • what personal information I hold about you
  • to correct it
  • to delete it
  • to stop using it
